Florine is part monster part super hero, capable of shape shifting by grafting nearby objects onto her body.
Florine is part feminist superhero , part monster, flawed and weighed down, but powerful, too. She is capable of morphing with nearby objects that give her extra empathetic powers while simultaneously obstructing her movements. She absorbs influences both spiritual and physical, such as landscapes she visits or artists, like Louise Bourgeois, that she admires. Florine was originally inspired by my work in the special effects industry as a digital painter, where I worked on several super hero movies. My imagination gave birth to Florine as a humorous response to the often frustrating values of a male dominated work place.
